Be warned: this has absolutely nothing to do with fun or saving money.  It just pissed me off when I read it.  Oh, and I’m angry enough to curse.  A lot.

One of my New Year’s resolutions (yea, remember those things you promised to do 2 months ago?? no?? it’s okay, I’m not mad about that)…anyhow, one of them was to read the paper every day.  Which, I’ve been okay about.  The news is depressing; it’s usually all bad things and just is a debbie downer.  Every once in a while though, an article just pisses me off!  Here is the link to today’s article:

In summary, an 86-year-old WWII vet was attacked, got his legs broken, car stolen, and had to crawl to help as people walked the fuck by him and looked the other way.  ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME???  Is that what we as a society has come to?  Someone is beaten, and we see them dragging themselves across the street, but we do nothing??  That is absolutely horrendous, and I am ashamed of every person who did not stop to offer help.

I understand we’re all busy people; we work multiple jobs, we have kids to take care of and errands to run.  But come on – this is just despicable!  Sure, there are times when someone sketches me out so I don’t want to help them, but I do my very best to help someone and society whenever I can.  Just last night, after working 13 hours, I took time to pull over and call 9-1-1 to inform them that a giant tarp had come loose at the construction site of a bridge, and created a potentially dangerous situation for drivers.  Now, sure, a dozen other people might have done the same thing.  But how the hell would I really know?  And how could I feel okay with myself if I didn’t call and then learned an accident did happen?

People – we need to STOP being mean to one another.  We need to STOP not caring about each other.  We’ve become so numb to everything, that we’ve lost our ability to empathize.
